“I love helping people figure out how to successfully manage ostomies!  There’s nothing quite like helping a patient, caregiver or nurse learn what they needed to have that ‘Aha! Moment’. My role within Convatec allows me to focus my efforts on nurses who are striving to help so many ostomates every day! Nora Sammon, MSN, RN
Southeast

Nora has been a WOC since 2006 with more than 22 years of clinical experience beginning her career as a nursing assistant, and she joined the Convatec team in 2024. She was inspired to go into WOC nursing after working with her mother, a WOC, who studied under Norma Gill. Nora was motivated by the positive impact the specialty has on healing and personal relationships with patients. After receiving her Bachelor of Science from Cleveland State University in 2002, Nora practiced nursing at the Cleveland Clinic on a medical surgical unit and was the unit’s wound champion. She proceeded to get her certification from the Cleveland Clinic WOC School in 2006.

She has worked at New York Presbyterian, Mount Sinai Hospital and Mayo Clinic and presented posters at National and Regional WOCN conferences on healing ostomy closure sites, preventing dehydration in ostomy patients, pressure injury reduction, improving pediatric ostomy educational materials and healing challenging wounds. Nora has been published as a co-author for stoma care textbook. She loves that WOC nursing is the best combination of art and science.

“I have enjoyed educating and inspiring nurses at the unit level and thrilled to inspire more nurses to help support, educate and heal ostomy patients. I believe the greatest calling is to serve and help others. I love to bring humor and hope to ostomy patients and nurses.”
